OMG VD!

[Gosh you guys, there must be a holiday on! One of the bigger, more well-lit caves has been decked out for a PARTY, with heart-shaped BALLOONS and also red and white STREAMERS decking the stalactites and shit. There are BUCKETS filled with LITTLE CANDY HEARTS, and there is a FOUNTAIN featuring a rosy-cheeked CUPID who is PEEING PINK LEMONADE into a basin. Also ther are CUPS in case you couldn't tell the LEMONADE was for DRINKING.

Also, everything is HEAVILY SPIKED WITH APHRODISIACS. Eating or drinking the party favors will make you want to MAKE OUT with anyone who gets IN STRIKING DISTANCE. Have fun with that!]

Celes accepts the sweet and smiles awkwardly. "Thank you. I'm General--um, former General Celes Chere. May I ask your name?" She is fairly certain that is the correct mode of speech. Maybe.

Sei titters! This one's adorably earnest, but far too serious. Look at that seriouserious face. Look at it being so in-character. Oh, actors. <3

"Sei will do," she tells the young lady. Just a family name for now. "Won't you tell me about all the armies you've conquered?"

She pats the bench next to her. She's got a comb in her sleeve, doesn't she? She's not quite sure why, but she seriously wants to fuss with Celes's pretty hair and make it even prettier. Like with flowers and ribbons. And maybe hit her with a pillow. What.

She sits awkwardly on the bench and tries to smile. Her military history has become an oddity; once she recounted her achievements like a grocery list, and now it is simply uncomfortable to think of how many people and places she unquestioningly destroyed.

"It was only in the last two years that I actually commanded forces on the offense," she says quietly. "Most knew not to attack the empire, but I did have to make an example of a city called Maranda. They were attempting to incite rebellion. It was not much of a battle; their rebels were ill-trained and--" Is Sei combing her hair? That's...strange, but it feels very nice. She tries to remember what she was saying. "They hadn't much knowledge of tactics." She hesitates. "It is one thing to fight an army, and another to be told to raze the village entirely. At the time, the order seemed logical. Now it seems unfair."

Fuss fuss fuss, comb comb comb...oh yes, rebellions and military stuff, very nice...ooh, maybe a Chinese look? Must get these little knots out first, tug TUG tug

"Well!" she says brightly, "That must have been exciting!"

Braidy braidy braaaaaaid

"So, are there any young men in your life?"

She winces a little at some of the more enthusiastic tugs, but this really does feel very nice generally, so she sits still. It's oddly soothing.

"There was one, after I left the army, but I think he's dead now. As near as I could tell before I...came here, everyone was dead. Or at least none of them were on the island with me." She is only blinking rapidly because of a knot that's being stubborn, yes, that is definitely the case here. "And you?"

"I had a husband once," she says, "but he's more of a brother now. We haven't gotten along well lately. Anyway that's a shame about yours. But that's military men for you, they do that. 'The sun sets over red fields', that's just how it is."

Yup, she's the soul of sympathy. But look what a nice folded-over bun she's managed to put Celes' hair into!

"Shall we find you a new one?"

"I'm sorry you aren't getting along with your husband," she says, a little awkwardly. "It seems like it would be difficult to share a life when you aren't getting on well." She hesitates a little. "I--um, I suppose I could look for someone, but people are so hard to understand. I had a hard enough time with the last one." It's very nice that Sei is so helpful, but Celes has never been quite comprehending of the rush to create such relationships. Though the candy seems to provide a compelling incentive.
