[what the hell, the brochures said nothing about a hot spring! but WHO CARES it'll be fun and there's pretty much enough light to see by in this part of the caves. Also there is still no lifeguard on duty, but there are little bat-eared monkey things hopping around the rocks so probably there's nothing too predatory in the water. And it's all steaming and warm -- if you're a lifeform that enjoys warm water, anyway, you're in for a treat! Almost certainly nothing could go wrong here. Just keep an eye on your valuables; those little buggers have clever paws.]

Oh, I see, that makes sense, if, humans all live, the same amount, of time... With trolls, um, none of us, get conscripted, younger than nine sweeps, but, highbloods live much longer, than lowbloods, so I think, that gives them time, to learn, general things.

Barring violence or illness, humans live a fair bit of time.

Is a sweep like a year? One turn of the earth round the sun?

That's right, that's what, it is, only, I think Earth years, are shorter, than sweeps, on Alternia.

Ah, I see. Generally one would not join the military younger than sixteen, I think.

That is, if we got our numbers right, something like, seven and a half sweeps.

...Do all humans, have to join?

Usually it is voluntary. In times of great need, though, they may be conscripted.

It sounds, really nice, to have it be voluntary. What do, other humans do?

They run shops, or study things, or grow crops. Sometimes they herd animals or make things--weapons or armour or dishes, that sort of thing.

If everyone where you are from gets conscripted, who does all those things for your people?

Uh, on Alternia, we have, construction drones, for some of it, and lusii, to help raise us. In the Fleet, uh, I don't, actually know....
